Akatsi South MP’s Pro Education Stance Earns Him Kudos after sponsoring Kiddiefest with ghc15000.00 cash
Lawyer Bernard Ahiafor, the Member of Parliament for Akatsi South Constituency, has received remarkable applause at the Akatsi South’s maiden edition of Kiddiefest, a festival championing early childhood education in Ghana, instituted by the Ghana Education Service for being the major sponsor of this year’s festival.
The Municipal Director of Education publicly acknowledged Hon. Ahiafor’s significant contribution to the cause of Education in the area, highlighting his wholehearted dedication to the development of the younger generation at the festival held on Wednesday, the 2nd of October 2024. Mr. Ahiafor who supported the festival with ghc15000.00, pointed out that the first few years of a child’s life are critical in shaping their overall development to become useful in the moral fabric of society.
Mr. Ahiafor who was also hailed for investing in the educational infrastructure development of the area mentioned that, as said in our local parlance “Nuku sike nyonyogea, exemee wokporne le na” It is during this stage that children learn to explore the world, absorb knowledge, and build the skills that will shape their academic journey and personal growth. This is why it is crucial to enroll our children in school at an early age.
Charging parents and stakeholders to invest in the education of their wards, Mr. Ahiafor also stated that early childhood education is not just about teaching children how to read and write. He mentioned that early childhood education should be about helping them develop essential life skills, such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.
These are the core competencies that will set them on the right path to success not only in school but generally, in life. That is why our elders say, “Ne ati le suea, ye wonya dzorna”. He said.
Hon. Ahiafor’s timely support for Kiddiefest resonates with his parliamentary responsibilities, particularly as a member of the Education Committee and Constitutional, Legal, and Parliamentary Affairs Committee. His actions demonstrate a steadfast commitment to fostering a conducive learning environment for the children of Akatsi South Constituency. By sponsoring Kiddiefest, Hon. Ahiafor has reaffirmed his dedication to education, aligning with the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) vision for quality education in their next government.
Accompanying the member of Parliament were Constituency Executives, including Constituency Secretary Daniel Dagba, Constituency Treasurer Daniel Gidi, Deputy Secretary Francis Bedzo, Executive Member John Amekuedi, Communication Team Member Japhet Festus Gbede, and Johnson Samlafo, Deputy Regional Youth Organizer.
