The Member of Parliament for the Jirapa Constituency, Hon. Cletus Seidu Dapilah, has donated one thousand exercise books, along with pens and pencils, to schoolchildren in the Wuoyiri and Galiyiri traditional areas.
The donation was made during the end-of-year homecoming celebration of the Wuoyiri people on Monday, December 5, 2025, at the Wuoyiri Community Centre.
Hon. Dapilah graced the occasion in the company of key party stakeholders from the Jirapa Constituency, including the NDC Constituency Chairman, David Yeng; the Women’s Organizer, Aku Kpedi; the Zongo Caucus Coordinator, Omar Mohammed; and other party officials.
Speaking at the event, the lawmaker noted that the annual Wuoyiri homecoming celebration has played a major role in driving development in the community, particularly in the areas of potable water provision and the strengthening of unity among the people.
He stressed the importance of parents placing a high priority on their children’s education, adding that children who may not follow purely academic paths should be supported to develop practical and vocational skills.
As part of his contribution to improving education in the area, Hon. Dapilah presented a range of educational materials to support teaching and learning among schoolchildren.
The items donated included one thousand exercise books, pens, pencils, jerseys, and footballs.
According to him, the gesture was intended to motivate children to take their education seriously while also easing the financial burden on parents.
He further explained that the footballs and jerseys were meant to encourage sports development and instill sportsmanship among the youth.
The donation was received on behalf of the community by Mr. Doodaa Batie, Patron of the Wuoyiri Youth Association.
The annual Wuoyiri homecoming celebration is aimed at fast-tracking development and promoting progress within the community.
