Hon. Cletus Seidu Dapilah Announces Educational Support Package for All First-Year SHS Students in Jirapa
There is excitement across the Jirapa Municipality as the Member of Parliament for the Jirapa Constituency, Hon. Cletus Seidu Dapilah, has announced another major educational intervention aimed at supporting first-year Senior High School (SHS) students.
As part of his unwavering commitment to promoting quality education, the MP will provide essential educational and boarding items, including mattresses, metal chop boxes, buckets, pens, exercise books, and mathematical sets to all first-year students from the Jirapa Constituency who have gained admission into second-cycle institutions for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The initiative is expected to bring significant relief to parents and guardians, many of whom face financial challenges in purchasing the required items for their children before reporting to school.
Speaking on the intervention, Hon. Cletus Seidu Dapilah explained that every student from the constituency who successfully completed Junior High School and has secured admission into any Senior High School will benefit from the package.
According to him, the registration of beneficiaries will begin across the constituency, after which a grand presentation ceremony will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the Jirapa Municipal Education Office at 10:00 a.m., where students will receive their educational support packages.
The items being distributed are among the essential requirements for first-year students reporting to boarding schools, making the intervention both timely and impactful.
Hon. Dapilah noted that the donation is intended to reduce the financial burden on parents, enabling families to redirect their limited resources to other pressing household needs. He stressed that no child should be denied access to quality education because of a lack of basic school necessities.
He further emphasized that providing students with the required learning materials and personal effects will promote equal access to education, encourage regular school attendance, and improve participation in academic activities, particularly among students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The former Jirapa Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) reiterated that investing in the education of children is an investment in the future, as educated and well-equipped young people are more likely to become responsible and productive citizens who contribute meaningfully to national development.
Hon. Cletus Seidu Dapilah, has consistently demonstrated his commitment to advancing education in the Jirapa Municipality.
Earlier this year, his office honoured outstanding teachers during the Jirapa Best Teachers Awards, recognising excellence in teaching and learning. He also played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Jirapa Education Fund, an initiative dedicated to mobilising resources to support and improve education across the municipality.
The latest intervention further reinforces the MP’s commitment to ensuring that every child in the Jirapa Constituency has the opportunity to pursue education without unnecessary financial barriers.
